The Government of Sikkim on June 09, 2026, issued a notification regarding the prohibition of Sale and Promotion of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS).
The following has been stated: -
•The State Government has directed a strict prohibition on the sale, manufacture, distribution, trade, import, advertisement, and online sale of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS), including e-cigarettes, vapes, heat-not-burn devices, e-sheesha, and similar products, except as permitted under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
•The order reinforces compliance with the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (COTPA), the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019 (PECA), and the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
•It also prohibits the sale of such products near educational institutions and through e-commerce platforms.
•Violations will attract legal action under the applicable provisions of COTPA, PECA, and the Juvenile Justice Act.
